Write a better product photo editing brief
Define a consistent look for product images while preserving the details customers need.
Define the intended use
Tell your editor whether the images are for product listings, a campaign or social media. Include required dimensions and any destination-specific requirements you already have. Share reference images to explain the desired background, crop and shadow treatment. Different uses may need separate versions of the same source photograph.
Protect product accuracy
Identify the colours, texture, shape and details that must remain faithful to the product. Explain which distractions can be removed and which marks or features are part of the item. If colour is critical, supply an appropriate reference and review the result carefully. Editing should support a clear presentation without creating misleading product expectations.
Approve a sample first
For a larger batch, review one representative image before the same treatment is applied across the set. Check edges, alignment, crop and consistency at the intended display size. Agree on file names and output formats. Keep original files so future crops or campaign versions can be prepared from suitable source material.
