A practical SEO checklist for your business website
Make your site easier to understand, navigate and maintain before planning your next content campaign.
Start with your pages
List the pages that explain your services, products and business. Give each page a clear purpose and a descriptive heading. If two pages answer the same question, decide which one should be the main destination before adding more content. A useful page should help a visitor understand the offer and choose a next step.
Check the visitor journey
Open your website on a phone and follow the route from a service page to an enquiry. Check that navigation, images and forms work. Read your headings without the surrounding paragraphs: they should still explain the page. Replace vague link labels with wording that describes where the link leads.
Keep a simple improvement log
Record the page, the issue, the change and the date. Review search visibility alongside enquiries and the quality of those enquiries. A higher visit count alone does not explain whether the site is helping your business. Start with the pages closest to your customers’ needs, and revisit them as your services change.
