What Is Website Design?

A useful experience, shaped around your business.

Website design brings together page structure, navigation, typography, colour, imagery and interactions. It determines how people understand your offer, find the right information and move towards a useful next step.

MayaWeb helps businesses launching their first site, refreshing an existing one or planning a more focused campaign or store experience. We work with your brand assets and content to create a direction that fits the audience and the purpose of each page.

Design deliverables and a working website are scoped clearly. If you also need development, publishing or integrations, we include those requirements in the proposal before the work begins.

Benefits of Website Design

Explain your offer clearly

A considered page hierarchy puts the important information first, so visitors can understand your services without piecing the story together.

Make mobile visits easier

Responsive layouts give content, buttons and forms room to work on smaller screens, supporting people who discover your business on their phones.

Reduce unnecessary steps

Clear navigation and well-placed contact options help visitors move from a question to the relevant service, product or enquiry.

Build a recognisable identity

Consistent visual choices connect the website with your wider brand, from social content and campaigns to presentations and printed material.

Make content easier to use

Readable text, useful headings and organised page sections help people compare information and decide what matters to them.

Create room to grow

Reusable page patterns make it easier to plan future services, articles or products without starting the visual system again.

Keep your brand in view

Existing logos, colours, fonts and approved imagery guide the design. Any proposed changes are discussed with you before they become part of the direction.

A PRACTICAL WEBSITE CHECK

Is It Time to Rethink Your Website?

Use these questions to shape a useful redesign brief.

Start with the experience your visitors have today.

A redesign can address more than appearance. It may help when your offer has changed, your site is difficult to browse or the pages no longer reflect your business. We begin by identifying what works, what causes confusion and what you want to keep.

For existing websites, keep an inventory of pages, URLs, images, forms and important content. Any migration or redirect work should be agreed alongside development.

Discuss a website review ↗
  • Does the first screen explain what you offer?
  • Can people find your main services easily?
  • Are buttons and forms comfortable to use on a phone?
  • Do the visuals reflect your current brand?
  • Can your team maintain the content it needs?
  • Is the next step clear on every important page?

DESIGN QUALITY

The Details That Make a Website Easier to Use

These considerations guide the design brief and the implementation checklist.

Readable content

Plan meaningful headings, comfortable line lengths and useful spacing so longer explanations stay easy to follow.

Inclusive interactions

Consider colour contrast, visible labels, keyboard focus and understandable error states. Any formal accessibility audit is agreed separately.

Responsive behaviour

Define how navigation, cards, media and forms adapt across screen sizes, including long text and touch interactions.

Search-conscious structure

Plan a logical page hierarchy, useful internal links and space for descriptive content. Ongoing SEO and technical implementation are separate agreed services.

Performance-aware choices

Use purposeful imagery and interactions. Image preparation and implementation checks help manage page weight when the design is built.

Forms with a clear destination

Agree what information is needed, where enquiries go and how privacy information is presented. A form’s design and its working integration are both part of the project discussion.

SCOPE & HANDOVER

Know What Your Website Project Includes

The four packages are quoted around your brief. A design package does not automatically include every build or ongoing service.

Website Design FAQs

Packages & planning

How much does website design cost?

Website design and setup packages start at $467 USD for Basic, $799 USD for Standard and $1,299 USD for Premium, as one-time website setup prices. Custom and design-only work are quoted around the brief. Page count, platform and functionality are confirmed before work begins; hosting and paid tools are separate. These prices match our main pricing page.

How long will the project take?

We confirm the schedule after reviewing the brief. Page count, content readiness, functionality and review rounds affect timing. Share a fixed launch date early so we can assess it before you book.

What is the difference between website design and development?

Design covers the structure, appearance and planned behaviour of the pages. Development turns that design into a working site. We confirm whether your proposal includes design only, development or both.

Can you redesign my current website?

Yes. Share the current URL and explain what you want to improve and preserve. We review the existing pages and agree how content, important links and features should be handled.

Content & functionality

Will my website work on mobile?

Responsive layouts are part of the design discussion from the beginning. The proposal identifies the pages and views covered. A developed website also needs testing on the agreed devices and browsers.

Do you write the website content?

You can provide approved copy or request content writing as an additional scope. We agree which pages need writing, who supplies business information and how the copy will be reviewed.

Can you design an online store?

Yes. We can plan the store’s page layouts and shopping journey. Platform setup, product entry, payments and other functionality are confirmed separately in the proposal.

Is SEO included in website design?

We consider content structure and navigation during design. Keyword research, technical SEO, publishing tasks and ongoing optimisation are included only when listed in your scope. You can discuss a combined project with our SEO service.

Reviews & handover

How many revisions are included?

The number of revision rounds is confirmed in your proposal. Consolidated feedback helps keep the review clear. Additional pages or a new direction after approval may require a scope update.

Will I be able to edit the website myself?

That depends on the implementation. If you need to update pages without editing code, tell us at the start so CMS requirements, permissions and any training can be included.

Are hosting, domain names and paid tools included?

They are included only if your proposal says so. Hosting, domain renewals, paid themes, plugins and other third-party costs are identified before work begins.

What happens after the design is delivered?

We provide the agreed files and handover details. If development or post-launch support is included, its responsibilities and duration are stated in the proposal. Ongoing maintenance can be discussed separately.
